(1) “Roger Langlais entitles drawings dubious Paysage or fantastic Paysage (repetition and innovation) , it celebrates a flora in revolt, like that of vegetable Anger , it puts in the high-speed motorboat the preferred Fleur , with the lancéolée form, pretense to leave to the conquest the sky, and the Eye of the witch , another frightening flower paralyzing of fear the traveller. All that made think of what is said, in the Manifeste of surrealism , the poets devoting itself to the automatic writing: “One crosses, with a quiver, which the occultists call of the dangerous landscapes.” These landscapes are threatening, indeed, the dangers and the traps which they conceal are entrevisibles, and their noxious forces increase with fallen the day ( the come night ) or with the approach of the bad weather ( cruel Ciel , the Tuning fork of the storm ). No need to go at the end of the world to face these landscapes: it is enough to go at the end of Ego. It is mental virgin forest which Roger Langlais was made the explorer. ” (Sarane Alexandrian, Roger Langlais through the dangerous landscapes , Paris, Guillet Gallery, 2001.)
