Santamaria

Santamaria is a Portuguese group born in 1998 then made up of 5 members: Shine Marante, Dina Real, Filipa Lemos (principal singer), Magda Monteiro and Tony Lemos. Then in 2007 DJ Lucana (Lucas Júnior) celebrates it, joined them. Santamaria is a group of Eurodance, euro-house, pop, techno, trance and electronics, but also authors of ballades (slow fox trot) and dream-music.

Biography

March 25th 1998 is a date which will mark the beginning of a remarkable career with Portugal then in Europe for Santamaria. Their first album Have sei you are… (I know, you are…) becomes a success which propels them to highest in the world of the Portuguese-speaking music, with already of great requests, with the Brésil, with the Mozambique, in Angola…

Sem limits (Unbounded) leaves in 1999, it remains the album more sold of Santamaria, after having conquered the Portuguese and Portuguese-speaking public, this album exceeds the limit of the Portuguese-speaking borders to be even known in Spain, Belgium, Suisse, Luxembourg… This album exceeded record of sale in Portugal, to note a duet with Danish the Whigfield in " Happy Maravilha".

In 2000, Santamaria leave to them 3rd album Voar (to fly), which is also a great success, they sing English titles more and more, santamaria were rare Portuguese artists to have made a European career, however they seek better, with in particular a world career.

Reflexus (reflections) leaves in 2001 where the sales of albums are in light fall, although this album is " the préféré" of Santamaria, criticisms of the Portuguese media are not made wait, they reproach Santamaria " recopier" certain groups and to make too homogeneous musics, people start to be wearied, the international career is abandoned. It is however into 2001 that Santamaria receive finally the title of the best Portuguese artists: " the sphere of or" , that it should have had quite front Reflexus .

In 2002, Santamaria leave to them 5th album 4dance , an album which has failed to put a term at the career of Santamaria, with almost non-existent sales, however this album is the most appreciated fans, especially the title Vou entrar No teu olhar (I will enter your glance). With this album, Santamaria exceed the half million albums sold in the world, a record very seldom reached in Portugal. It is after the constant fall of the sales of albums that Santamaria decide to make a 2 years installation, to deal with their private life, with in particular the marriage and the birth of baby of the vocalist (Filipa Lemos).

In 2003, Santamaria " in repos" leave their first Best off (Boogie Woogie) with 5 new titles and a DVD, but the sales are even more disappointing.

During the year which followed the exit of Best Of, in 2004, Santamaria did not leave new album, however without being diverted of their career: The group concentrated on an immense round, which was spread out over two years. The concert of years 2003/2004 gathered the individual ones off included in Best (Boogie Woogie) .

It is in 2005 that Santamaria make their return to the stage with the exit of the seventh album 2beat . But Santamaria want more, they reproach in particular their recording company ( Vidisco ) for not doing enough publicities to them…

2006 will be the year when Santamaria will have very given in concert with Dalay turn 2006 , to find part of the disappointed fans. It is as into 2006 as Santamaria change recording company to join ( Spacial ) (the largest recording company of Portugal). Santamaria leave in 2006 the album 8 which represents the 8 years of career of Santamaria, them 8th album. 8 is an album which Santamaria decided to dedicate to their many fans. Still in 2006, ( Vidisco ) (their old recording company) second Best leaves off (Hit Singles) 1 month after the exit 8 , a gesture of homage for Santamaria.

Santamaria leave the following year, in 2007 their tenth album, Elements , with the arrival of a member, DJ Lucana (Lucas Jr), the producer since 1998 of Santamaria; they are from now on 6.

In 2008, Santamaria will celebrate their 10 years of career with the exit of a dvd live in a concert recorded at the time of their round 2007, the place remains secret. Santamaria began the realization of their next album, 11th, which should leave in March - April 2008.
