Santa Cruz del Seibo
Santa Cruz del Seibo is in one of the poorest areas of the territory of the Dominican Republic. It is located at center-is country, in the north of Romana. It is the capital of the province of El Seibo and is moreover one of the oldest cities of the American continent, founded in 1502.
Outside the city, in the hills, is large a Bidonville of approximately 8.000 inhabitants. This district emerged after the hurricane George (1998) destroyed the dwellings of many farmers of the area. At the time, those received a ground in compensation of the loss which they underwent with the hands of the government, in a surer area between hills.
The government carried out a great project of social housing construction in 2004, the district of Villa Guerrero . Hundreds of solid buildings and out of cement were built there for the inhabitants of the close shantytown. But in 2005, the Being useful collaborators of World noted that the majority of the houses had been given to the richest people.
