Sandra Botha
Celia-Sandra Botha (born the February 25th 1945) is a political woman of South Africa, Député E of the State-Free to the South-African Parlement since 1999, vice-president of the Parliament of 2004 with 2007 and chief of the parliamentary group of the democratic Alliance since May 2007.
Celia-Sandra Botha was born in Viljoenskroon in a family afrikaner from the Province from the free State from Orange and made her secondary studies with the college of Parys then continued higher learning with New York. She is graduate in economy of the Université of Stellenbosch and in Sesotho of the Université of South Africa.
Initially militant of the left liberal South-African opposed to the Apartheid, Sandra Botha was member of the national coalition of the women before becoming appointed in 1999 under the colors of the democratic party and being re-elected in 2004 like deputy of the democratic Alliance.
Of 2004 with 2007, it is only elected official opposition to hold a station ceremonial, that of vice-president of the National Assembly (3rd character of the Parliament under the protocol).
In May 2007, it is elected by 30 votes against 26 votes with Tertius Delport, former minister for the government of Frederik de Klerk, to succeed Tony Leon as chief of the parliamentary group of the official opposition.
She is married in Andries Botha, former chief of the democratic Alliance of the province of theFree one. The couple has 5 children.
