Sandaraque
The sandaraque (of the old Greek σανδαράκη/ sandarákê , Realgar) is a vegetable resin extracted the Thuya articularis originating in North Africa. It is presented in the form of tears or of grains. It is frequently used in the composition of varnished with alcohol of which it ensures the transparency. It is partly dissolved hot in oil. Its melting point is of 140 °C.
It is used in Lutherie or cabinet work.
