Sanche II of Castille
He was the oldest son of Ferdinand Ier de Castille. With died his father, he inherited the kingdom of Castille while Alphonse, his junior, became king of León. A fratricidal fight opposed the two brothers but Sanche, supported by the armed wing of Cid Campeador, crushed the army of Alphonse who found refuge near the Moslem king of Tolède. Sanche then undertook to conquer Zamora, town of his/her sister Urraca and found death in there 1075, undoubtedly assassinated by a traitor on order of his brother. Alphonse returned and took again the crown of León and that of Aragon under the name of Alphonse VI of Castille.
