San Remo Apartments

The San Remo Apartments (or sometimes The San Remo ) is a luxurious building of apartments in joint ownership located at the 145 and 146 Central Park in the Upper West Side of Manhattan, with New York. It was built in 1929, several weeks before the crisis, and the beginning of the Grande Depression. The building is located immediately at the edge of Central Park, in the north of not less famous the Dakota Building. The journalist of the NewYork Times , Glen Justice described it like “a dazzling building, with unspoilable views on Central Park”. The architect of the building, Emery Roth benefitted from the news règlementaions of the time of construction to build the first building of New York equipped with twin towers. The roofs of the two turns are inspired as for them monument by Lysicrates by the Acropole by Athens. Roth had discovered this anitque architecture at the time of the World Columbian Exposition of Chicago in 1893. The building counts and counted among its occupants several personalities, among which Steven Spielberg, Donna Karan, Steve Jobs, Demi Moore, Dustin Hoffman, the high-speed motorboat of U2 Bono, Steve Martin, Bruce Willis, Eddie Cantor, Robert Stigwood, Don Hewitt or Rita Hayworth which spent there the last year of its life. San Remo Apartments thus have the reputation, Bruce Willis put aside, to accommodate sympathizers of the democratic party: according to an article of the NewYork Times , at the time of the presidential election of 2004, the building is that whose occupants made the most gifts with the democratic candidate John Kerry.
