San Ku Kaï

San Ku Kaï (宇宙からのメッセージ ・ 銀河大戦, Romaji: Uchu will kara No messeji: Ginga taisen ; titrate English: Message from Space: Galactic Battle ) is a Televised series of Science-fiction Japan ease in 27 episodes 25 minutes, carried out in 1979 by Minoru Yamada according to the Manga of Shōtarō Ishinomori. In France, the series was diffused firstly on the data transmission of armies T.A.M starting from the September 15th 1979 on Antenne 2 and thereafter in the emission Récré A2 . It was also diffused in the countries of Latin America with beginning of the year 80, under the title Sankuokai .

Synopsis

In year 70 of the space calendar, the Human ones started to colonize space. Several generations after, the Earth is not any more, for the descendants of the colonists, but one element of their History, the third planet of the Prime Minister Solar system.

The Fifteenth Solar system, as for him, is composed of three livable planets: Sheita, Analis and Belda, which revolve around the Glora sun. This solar system is located at 15 light-years of the Ground.

Ayato is a young pilot left the school of navigation of Belda. It is called by his father, Jinn ( Shin in Japanese) on Analis, and there goes to edge of a transport of freight controlled by Ryû, resulting from the same school, and Siman ( Baru in Japanese), a man-monkey.

Whereas they approach Analis, the planet is attacked by Stressos, a wandering tribe directed by Golem XIII; this one decided to subject the Fifteenth Solar system. Stressos locate a distress message sent towards the Earth from a village. Komenor, the general of Stressos, sends Volcor on Analis to discover the origin of the message; this one seems to come from the house of the father of Ayato. When Ayato arrives in its village, he discovers that its family was assassinated; he discovers occasion consequently that his/her father belongs to a mysterious clan, Gem, and that it also formed Ryû with martial arts a few years before.

Continued by Stressos, Ayato is embarked by Ryû and Siman, but their vessel is attacked by Stressos. They are helped by a strange named woman Éolia, who travels on board her spaceship in the shape of ship, Azuris. Éolia their fact gift of a vessel of combat, San Ku Kaï. The three characters decide to enter in resistance against Stressos, Ryû is made call “Staros” and Ayato “the Phantom”, joined soon by the Sidéro robot, gained on Belda by Ryû at the time of a contest of launching knife.

On Belda, the resistance of the People of the roots is organized, carried out by Kamiji.

Characters

The resistant ones

  • Ayato “the Phantom”, wire of Jinn: it is 17 years old and is impetuous, always ready to sink lowered head. Formed with martial arts by his father, it uses a retractable Jitte (with Notch of stop); it leaves the academy of piloting of Belda.
  • Éolia : mysterious woman who always remains on her spaceship, Azuris; it is the dea ex machina which guides and helps the resistant ones.
  • Kamiji : chief of the People of the roots and chief of resistance on Belda.
  • Ryû “staros”: also formed in its youth with martial arts by Jinn, it is an experienced and reflected pilot, resulting from the same academy of piloting as Ayato. It moderates Ayato and is its sempaï ; it fights with retractable Jitte and Shuriken .
  • Sidéro : it is a robot.
  • Siman : man-monkey, it is an experienced pilot.

Stressos

  • Golem XIII : tyrant of Stressos, no one it forever considering. It gives its orders to Komenor by radio and moves in a spaceship in the shape of statue.
  • Furia : ordering stressos, it supervises the operations on the ground. It has the capacity to take the appearance of other people.
  • Komenor (or Khomenor): general-in-chief of Stressos, it takes his orders directly of Golem XIII.
  • Volcor (or Volkor): ordering of Stressos, it supervises the operations on the ground.

Vessels

The spaceships are propelled by stratojets.

  • Golem XIII : the tyrant never appears in person, but always in a vessel in the shape of stone colossus.

Comments

The series was preceded by a Film, the Escaped prisoners of space (宇宙からのメッセージ, Romaji: Uchu will kara No messeji , 1978), carried out by Kinji Fukasaku. The great majority of the scenes of space combat in San Ku Kaï besides are directly taken again of this film.

Left following the Star Wars , the Escaped prisoners of space begins again some; certain elements: resistance against the oppressor, the young person who must achieve his destiny, the yellow monkey, the cylindrical robot débrouillard (Sidéro), the armor S inspired by those of the Samurai S…

In France, its credits very original and dynamic disco music (compound by Eric Charden) were a tube which marked the spirits, thus contributing to keep the series present in the memories.

Esthetics and the set of themes mix technology and the Japanese traditional culture, like, for example, the people of the roots which will question the phantom ancestors.

The episodes are relatively stereotyped, but the last episodes are connected to bring to the conclusion.

The realization profited, obviously, of a small budget:

  • glasses of ski and clothing in net, helmets of Mobylettes;
  • recovery of scenes from one episode to another;
  • scenes of action turned in the same career…

Kenji Oba ensured the cascades of San Ku Kai before becoming the hero of X-OR .

Adaptations

San Ku Kaï was the subject of an adaptation in Cartoon signed Pierre Frisano, published in France by the editions Dargaud in 1979.
