San Francisco (volcano)

The San Francisco is a volcano considered as extinguished, of Argentine (province of Catamarca) and of the Chile (IIIe Région of Atacama), located at a few 7 kilometers in the south-east of the frontier collar of the Paso of San Francisco. It is of this fact to about fifteen kilometers of the Falso Azufre which constitutes the north-western edge of this collar, and like this last, it makes border between the two countries.
Situation
It is surrounded by a series of other high Andean volcanos, some extinguished, other credits. With the Falso Azufre (5 906 m, more or less located 15 km at the North-West, it enclose the procession where the trunk road 60 passes Argentinian which communicates with road 106 of Chile, and which connects Córdoba and Buenos Aires to Copiapó close to the Chilean Pacific.Further, at the North-East, are located the Dos Conos ( Two cones ) and the Peinado. In the west, in Chilean territory, a lake called is Laguna verde ( green lagoon ), located in a depression which it surrounds with the following volcanos: the Falso Azufre, the Nevado Incahuasi (6 638 m), the El Fraile (6 068 m) and the El Muerto (6 488 m). These last three belong to the snow-covered volcanic chain and without defined name, which extends from is in west on good about fifty kilometers along the argentino-Chilean border around the 27° of southern latitude. This chain runs since the Nevado Incahuasi until the Nevado Tres Cruces (6 749 m), and include/understand a good part of the giants of the Andes.
