Samuel Bihan

Samuel Bihan was born on November 2nd, 1965, in Avranches (50). He was high between his area of origin and the Parisian suburbs by parents of modest origin. He thought painter, draftsman or mechanic but while accompanying by the friends to the course Florent, he will end up having the love at first sight for the trade of actor. He then drops immediately his BTS from draftsman-model maker, spends one year and half to the Florent Course and connects on a training course of commedia dell' arte which will lead it to play of the spectacles of street, mixes work of clown and burlesque MIME or mix juggling and “crachage” of fire. This spectacle will lead it through Europe and installs it on the square of the Center Georges Pompidou.

It decides to enrich this theatrical experiment by the training by the traditional texts. Thus it joined the school of the White Street, then Academy (C.N.S.A.D.) and at the end of one year, leaves to New York, to follow some courses as a non-registered student in Actor' S Studio. Of return in France, it will integrate the prestigious troop of the French Comedy. It spends four years there to defend the texts of Crow, Racine, Hugo, Kleist, Feydeau and well of others. It is for this rigorous work that the Minister for the Culture of the time, Catherine Tasca, gives the decoration of “Knight of Arts and Lettres to him”.

It is as at that time as the cinema discovers it thanks to realizers like Régis Wargnier, Bertrand Tavernier, Alain Corneau, Tonie Marshall… It leaves the French Comedy then, but returns very quickly to the theater by incarnating Stanley Kowalski in the mythical part of “a tram named Désir”, put in scene by Philippe Adrien with for partner Caroline Cellier. For this performance, it will be named in Molières in the category “Young hope”.

Bihan will be also Nobert, the reasonable officer of Conan Captain for whom it will be named in Césars and which marks the beginning of its cinematographic career. Then will come “Venus Beauté” for which it obtains the Price Jean Gabin, and incredible “the Pact of the Wolves” which devote it to the eyes of the general public.

Its eclectic formation leaves him marked taste a as well for the popular comedy, “Remain grouped”, “Jet set”, “3 Zeros”, as for the cinema of author with Catherine Breillat, Krzysztof Kieslowski, Laëtitia Masson, Emilie Deleuze, Karim Dridi.

The cinema of kind also marks its influence with “Total Western”, “the Pact of the Wolves” and “Fury”, just like the whodunnit with “the Cousin”. After having flirté with the American Cinema and of the actors like Robert De Niro, Harvey Keitel, Andie Mac Dowell and Tim Roth, it returned to its first loves in a telefilm committed and disturbing, “93, Rue Lauriston”, with the image of “Conan Captain”, and wrote hand of Master by Jean-Claude Grumberg.

It is in this same spirit that it took again the role of Stephan Freiss in “Brooklyn Boy” of Donald Margulies, put in scene by Michel Fagadau. It also has just finished turnings of “the public enemy N°1” carried out by Jean François Richet and “Of the headstocks and the angels” realized by Nora Hamdi. One will be able to find it soon with the poster of “Borders” of Xavier Gens as well as “Disco music” of Fabien Onteniente.

In parallel, it has creates its production company, Frelon productions. “The will to create Frelon corresponded to the desire to work in group, to federate a team around a joint project and of the manager”. This company with the will to accompany by young artists in their first steps and to continue this work with their notoriety. She especially affirmed herself with the success of the spectacle of François-Xavier Demaison (nomination in Molières 2007), whose Samuel Bihan is also one of the authors and the Stand up of Mickael Quiroga, which was played Petit Palais of the Ices.

Frelon production profits from a good experiment of the live performance but also of the cinema. It produces in 2005 “Exes” film carried out by Martin Cognito and in 2006 carries out its first short film “funeral Alphonse”.
