Samuel Ajayi Crowther , (v. 1809, December 31st 1891) first bishop black Anglican of the southernmost Nigeria, devoted in the Cathedral of Canterbury the June 29th 1864. It counts among the burning propagators of the European influence, applying with zeal the British triptych; trade, Christianity, colonization. This former slave freed, moulted in paragon of the intellectual elite, defends African dignity, encourages the people to take his destiny in hand provided that this promotion passes by conversion to Christianity.
