Samiha Khalil

Samiha Khalil (rear RTL سميحةخليل), also called Um Khalil , was born in 1923 in the village from Anabta close to Tulkarem and dies the February 26th 1999 with Ramallah.
In 1940, it stops its studies to marry with professor Salameh Khalil. They settle in Majdal (Ashkelon, today in Israel), but the couple takes refuge with Gaza eight years later with the creation of the State of Israel.
In 1952, it settles with her husband with Elbireh. None of his/her five children is authorized to return to Palestine.
In 1965, it becomes member of the Palestinian National council and remained there until its death.
During the same year, it creates in its garage the institution Ina' ash El-Usra which got appropriatenesses of formation and employment for handicapped women. After 1967, the goal of the organization becomes to make the women independent of the Israeli economic sector. In the years 1980, it binds with the democratic Front for the release of Palestine, like two of its sons, and it is held 6 times by the Israeli Armée for incentive with violence . It is then assigned with residence by the Israelis during 2 years and half. It becomes also member, the only woman, of a clandestine committee directing, secret committee from 5 to 10 people, in the West Bank before the return of PLO to the West Bank, after the Accords of Oslo. It was authorized to leave Palestine only once.
She was opposed to the Accords of Oslo signed in Washington on September 13rd, 1993 but states to support the decision of the Palestinian National council, in November 1988 with Algiers, to recognize Israel and to create a Palestinian State in the borders of 1967.
