Sami Kapanen

Sami Kapanen (born the June 14th 1973 Vantaa in Finland) is a professional player of Hockey.

Career in club

Kapanen begins its career while playing in the championship junior of its country in 1989 - 90 for the team of the KalPa Kuopio. The year according to, he also plays part of the season in the senior championship (Sm-liiga). In 1991-92, it is selected in the team of the recruits of the league. Until 1994, it plays in the senior team of the club while going from time to time to give knacks to the juniors. It changes team then and joined HIFK Helsinki for one season.

Indeed at the time of the fishing out of entry in the National league of hockey, it is chosen by the Whalers de Hartford in fourth round (87e choice). It then decides to join the North America and begins the season in the American Ligue of hockey in the manpower of the Falcons de Springfield. It also makes its beginnings in the LNH during this same season with 35 matches and a total of 9 points.

It follows the frankness in the North Carolina when it becomes the Hurricanes. It will spend the five following seasons with Hurricanes with two selections for the match of the Stars of the LNH (in 2000 and 2002).

The February 7th 2003, Kapanen is exchanged with the Flyers of Philadelphia with Ryan Bast in return of Pavel Brendl and Bruno Saint-Jacob. ,

It always evolves/moves with Flyers even if in 2004 during the '' lockout '' 2004-05 of the LNH, it is turned over to play in its country for its formative club. Its team evolves/moves then in the second division (Mestis) and turns over at the end of the season in Sm-liiga after having gained the championship.
