The Sambo (of the Russian : Самбо , a contraction of самозащитабезоружия , Sam ozaschita B ez O roujiïa , literally “self-defense without weapons”) is a sport of combat created in the USSR in the Années 1930 mixing mainly the Judo and the Lutte.
General informationThe term of sambo is a Russian abbreviation meaning “coil-defense without weapon” ( сам озащита б ез о ружия, Sam ozachtchita B ez O roujiya). This technique of combat is developed by Vasilii Sergeevich Oshchepkov, which was one of the pioneers of the Soviet judo in the Années 1920. The sambo is quickly taken again by the soldiers but remains always a sporting discipline. This sport of combat is managed today on a world level by an international federation, the amateur International federation of Sambo (TRUSTED), localized with Moscow. The first competition proceeds in the USSR the November 16th 1938 at the time of a tournament of Lutte on proposal of Anatolii Kharlampiev, described a long time like the father of the sambo. The first championship of the USSR is held in 1939.
The techniques of sambo are very numerous (more than 5.000 catches!) but are included in two main categories: projections and fixed assets. It is rare that the six minute old combat which is practiced in competition come to a end. One of the two combatants indeed generally manages to take the advantage on its adversary.
The engagements dispute on carpets of fight under the control of a referee, a judge and a chief of carpet. The samboïstes are vêtus of a narrow jacket, called “Kourka”, red or blue closed by an identical belt of color (the black belt is also accepted). Shorts grinding (blue or red according to the jacket), called “Trousi”, and of the flexible leather shoes supplement the equipment of the combatants.
The sambo is divided into three forms of practices which have all their own competitions.
- sporting Sambo
- Sambo of combat (authorized percussions feet fists; gum-shields, shell, shin guards and gloves are then of rigor)
- Sambo of defense (technique of defense mixing all the techniques of sports of existing combat; in pants having the color of the jacket in the place of the shorts)
The sambo is candidate with the Olympic statute of sport.
In France, it should be noted that only the French Institute of Sambo is recognized by the Amateur International federation of Sambo.
