The Sambo (of the Russian : Самбо , a contraction of самозащитабезоружия , Sam ozaschita B ez O roujiïa , literally “self-defense without weapons”) is a sport of combat created in the USSR in the Années 1930 mixing mainly the Judo and the Lutte.
The techniques of sambo are very numerous (more than 5.000 catches!) but are included in two main categories: projections and fixed assets. It is rare that the six minute old combat which is practiced in competition come to a end. One of the two combatants indeed generally manages to take the advantage on its adversary.
The engagements dispute on carpets of fight under the control of a referee, a judge and a chief of carpet. The samboïstes are vêtus of a narrow jacket, called “Kourka”, red or blue closed by an identical belt of color (the black belt is also accepted). Shorts grinding (blue or red according to the jacket), called “Trousi”, and of the flexible leather shoes supplement the equipment of the combatants.
The sambo is divided into three forms of practices which have all their own competitions.
Among the famous practitioners of sambo, it is advisable to announce Vladimir Poutine, Oleg Taktarov, Fedor Emelianenko and its brother Aleksander Emelianenko.
The sambo is candidate with the Olympic statute of sport.
In France, it should be noted that only the French Institute of Sambo is recognized by the Amateur International federation of Sambo.
