Samajwadi Party

The Samajwadi Party (Hindi socialist party in ), or SP , is an Indian political party. It was founded in October 1992, following a scission with the Janata Dal. Especially localized in the State of the Uttar Pradesh, more the people of the Indian Union, Samajwadi Party before is very established among the Yadav. Those train the widest caste in India, generally classified among the low castes ( Other backwar castes or OBC) or among the intermediate castes ( Kshatriya ) devoting itself traditionally to the cattle breeding. The Moslems also appear among the electoral base of Samajwadi Party.

In the Uttar Pradesh, Samajwadi Party was with the head of the local government between 1993 and 1995, at the time of an alliance with the Bahujan Samaj Party (left the Intouchable S), and since 2003. The first minsitre of the State was then Mulayam Singh Yadav, leader of the party and Minister for Defense within the coalition National Face-Left Face (left parties and regional) between 1996 and 1998. Several deputies of its party were implied in corruption affairs, and their relations with members of the organized crime were proven. Mulayam Singh Yadav however made countryside in 2003 on the corruption of the preceding local government, and on unemployment.

At the national level, Samajwadi Party is combined with none the parties carrying out the two coalitions which alternate with the capacity, BJP (nationalist right) or the Parti the Congress (center-left). It lays out of 36 seats out of the 543 of the Lok Sabha (Indian Parliament) since the elections of May 2004 (in progression of 10 seats compared to 1999).
