Sam Allen is a self-educated pianist American, born with Middleport (Ohio), the January 30th 1909, died in California, in September 1963.
Biography
Still child, it wires for sound silent films. Its professional path takes a new rise in 1931 with James P. Johnson and Teddy Hill. Come to Europe (International exhibition of Paris), (1937) it accompanies the Review by the Knitting machine Club to the Moulin-Rouge, and records with Dickie Wells.
With New York, he is the pianist of Slim Gaillard, Slam Stewart (1938), Stuff Smith (1938-40), and occurs in solo and trio with Washington and on the west coast.
Style
It is a pleasant guide and a solid soloist stride.
