Sam, I am Sam ( I Am Sam ) is an American film carried out by Jessie Nelson, left the December 3rd 2001.

Synopsis

Sam Dawson, who with the mental age of a Child seven years, saw surrounded by a mutually being supported group of friends. It has by accident a girl, Lucy with one of its relations, which disappears from its life. Sam raises his daughter then after a fashion. But when it reaches seven years, it understands that his/her father is different from the different one, in fact share with friends who call the Social services which then withdraw it in Sam.

Decided with to do everything to recover the guard of his daughter, Sam makes contact with Rita, lawyer E, who to impress his relations decides to deal with the business Pro bono.

the character of Lucy Diamond Dawson at the three years age is interpreted by the little sister of the actress, It Fanning.
Sean Penn wished at the beginning that the whole of the original soundtrack of film be made up of songs of the Beatles, but when the producers tried to buy the rights of use, Michael Jackson, which has the latter, required 300.000 dollars per piece of them, that is to say 4,5 million dollars for the unit. Considering the amount too much high, they asked various artists such as The Black Crowes, Sarah McLachlan, Ben Harper, Nick Cave or Sheryl Crow, to reinterpret the various pieces by keeping the same tempo as those of origin.
the character of “Lucy” is named according to the song Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds , of Beatles.
