Hydrology

The mode of the Eure was observed during one 40 years period (1968-2007), with Louviers, city of the Département of the Eure located a little upstream of its confluence with the the Seine. At this place the catchment area of the river is of 5  935 km ², are it quasi totality of this last.

The interannual medium flow or module of the Eure with Louviers is of 26,2 m ³ a second.

The Eure present of the seasonal fluctuations of flow very little important, with high waters of winter-spring carrying the average flow monthly on the level from 29 to 34,6 m ³ a second, of December with the beginning of April included (with an in January maximum - February), and low waters of summer from June to October included, involving a fall of the monthly medium flow up to 19 m ³ in August, which remains extremely consistent. However these moderate monthly fluctuations hide irregularities much more important over short periods.

Thus, VCN3 can to fall until 11,0 Mr. ³, in the event of period quinquennial dry, which perhaps rather high is compared with what occurs on the large majority of the rivers of the south and the east of France, but is relatively lower than the majority of the rivers of the west of the basin of the Seine, like Iton, Thérain or Epte.

The risings can be relatively important. Thus the recorded maximum instantaneous flow with Louviers was of 139 m ³ a second March 29th, 2001, while the value maximum day laborer was of 140 m ³ a second the same day. The QIX 10 or calculated flow of decennial rising is of 96 m ³ a second, the QIX 20 of 110 m ³ and the QIX 50 of 130 m ³. The QIX 2 and QIX 5 are worth as for them respectively 62 and 83 m ³ (see note). From where it arises that the risings of March 2001, of which it was question higher, were of order cinquantennal.

The Lame of water past in its catchment area is of 138 millimetres annually, which is weak, definitely lower so much than the average of the totality of the basin of the the Seine (230 to 240 millimetres), which with the overall average of France. The specific Débit (or Qsp) falls from this fact at weak 4,4 liters a second and per square kilometer of basin.
