Salty Of the Rand
Jacobus Abraham Of the Rand , more known like Salty Of the Rand , born the January 16th 1926 in Hofmeyr and deceased the February 27th 1979, was a player of Rugby to XV which played with the team of South Africa. It evolved/moved at the station of second line.
Career
It disputed its first test match the August 16th 1949 against the All Blacks. He played his last test match against the All Blacks on September 1st 1956.He thus takes part in the famous victorious series 4 tests with 0 of the Springboks against the All Blacks like third line wing for two gained meetings 12-6, 9-3.
In 1951 it is selected with 3 recoveries with Springboks, which make a round in Europe. It overrides the Scotland 44-0 and it registers on this occasion its first test in Test match. It takes part then in the victory against the Ireland 17-5 then with that over the Wales 6-3. In 1952 it completes the Large Slam by gaining the England 8-3, then with Paris 25-3.
It is then selected to dispute a series of 4 matches against the Wallabies in 1953, and it registers a test during the first test in Ellis Park, for a victory of South Africa 25-3. It is then its eighth match under the shirt of Springboks for as many victories. It still registers a test the following match but the match is lost. He plays the two following matches which result in two victories.
In 1955 the '' British Lions '' move in South Africa. Rand play the four tests. The following year it is retained twice to face Wallabies and Springboks gains the two meetings. The South-Africans move in New Zealand, and Of the Rand is the captain of Springboks against All Blacks the July 14th in Carisbrook. He plays three other times against All Blacks.
He dies in 1979 with Pretoria.
