Sally Nyolo
Sally Soleïnie Nyolo is a Cameronian Chanteuse.
She belonged to the group Zap Mama. Sally took part in many albums as a chorus-singer and produced four discs solo: Tribe , Multiculti , Béti and Zaïone (at Lusafrica).
Biography
Sally Nyolo is originating in the south of Cameroun. It was born in Eton country, in the small village of Eyen-Meyong, close to the town of Catholic student, in the department of Lékié. It leaves its native land at the 13 years age to settle in Paris where it saw since. During its adolescence, she sings in several groups before making of it a permanent activity at the time of the FAC.Sally builds its track records of 1982 to 1994, as chorus-singer initially while working with many French or African artists like Jacques Higelin, Sixun, Nicole Croisille, Touré Kunda, Princess Erika and well of others…
But Sally Nyolo also composes and it starts in parallel its career solo in 1991 by composing the music of the radiophonic serial " The Joseph" young person; who is then diffused on France-Culture. The following year, the producer Gerard Leuwen contacts it to work on the original soundtrack of the film " Ashakara" where she interprets the title " Semengue" , album published at BMG.
In 1993, Sally assembles its group and it occurs in many Parisian rooms and is invited in August to the prestigious festival of world music launched by Peter Gabriel, Womad. The following year, it records surson label, Real World, a first album of four titles on which the song " Djini Djome" is particularly noticed.
Zap Mama
A little later Sally meets Marie Daulne, leader of the Belgian group Zap Mama which proposes to him to join the group. This meeting marks the beginnings of the formidable adventure of this group of vocal polyphonies. Sally composes " Mamas of Mamas" who is reproduced on the second album of the group Sabsylma published on the Belgian label Crammed Discs. Zap Mama then start a series in concerts to the four corners of the planet during which two discs will be recorded live, one with Japan and the other in Montreux.
In 1996, Sally Nyolo records its first album in solo, heading Tribu , published by the Lusafrica label. All the titles, sung in Eton (its native language), are written and composed by Sally, except for " Tamtam" that it has Co-compound with Sylvin Marc. Equipped with an exceptional voice relayed by chorus-singers not less talented, Sally Nyolo cuts a pretty success.
Discovered RFI 97
In June 97, Sally Nyolo receives the price Découverte 97 allotted by Radio France Internationale. The jury, chaired by Manu Katché, devotes the album " thus; Tribu" , for its artistic qualities, and Sally Nyolo, like one of the most serious hopes of the new generation of the African musicians. The album was sold with 300.000 specimens in the world, including 100.000 in the United States.
Test transformed in May 98 with the second album " Multiculti" who excels again in the vein of the talented interbreeding. The young Cameronian proves her great knowledge of the traditional sounds of her continent which it repairs subtly. May 28th, it inaugurates its round in New Morning in Paris.
From August in September 98, Sally Nyolo undertakes a round of a score of dates through the United States and Canada, where she is a certain success since her beginnings. As of its return in Europe, it continues its round in Spain, in the Island of the Meeting then in France until the end of the year. In December, it makes an appearance at the time of a concert of Jacques Higelin in the City of the Music in Paris.
In January 2000, Sally Nyolo leaves its third album, " Beti" , of the name of a African tribe. Recorded partly in Cameroun, this album tries to capture the gasoline of the bikutsi, rate/rhythm born in the forest areas of the center of the country. During the round which follows at spring 2000, Sally is made the ambassadress of this music near the French public, but also of the Germans in May and the Inhabitants of Quebec in July with, in preamble, a passage noticed in its country of origin of 1st at May 7th for the Musical Meetings of Yaounde.
During the summer 2001, the singer gives a European round through France, Spain, Italy, Portugal and Switzerland.
Zaïone
In October 2002 appears " Zaïone" its fourth album which bears the name of his/her son born the previous year. It adapts its bikutsi to it to new colors while leaving to the meeting French artists for a series duets with Nicoletta, Nina Moratto, Muriel Moreno or Jean-Jacques Milteau. With his/her Cameronian girlfriend Princess Erika, it flirte with the reggae in " Jah Know" who is the first individual one of the album.
After four dates in Paris at the end of November in Opus Coffee, it starts a round in Germany and Switzerland in March 2003 before flying away for Japan where it plays on March 19th with the Quattro club of Tokyo within the framework of the Week of the Francophonie. Sally must find its native soil next May at the time of concerts which it will give to Douala within the framework of the international festival of voice of women, Douala Massao.

Sally finds its native soil in May at the time of concerts which it gives to Douala within the framework of the international festival of voice of women, Douala Massao. The international dimension which its career took confirms in 2004 since she plays in Italy, in Belgium as in London within the framework of African Music Festival. The Brazilian singer Martinho da Vila requests it for a duet on his album " Conexoes".
In March 2005, it takes part in a creation of David Murray, " Pouchkine" , presented to the festival Banlieue Bleues in Paris region. In June, it opens a studio with Yaounde and assembles there its own production company, Tribal Production, in order to take part in the development of the Cameronian music scene.
It leads a whole work to Cameroun for the local musical production. It is a local pride besides, in particular for Eton in which it is originating. A first album of Cameronian artists is appeared with international, at the end of 2006: Sally Nyolo & Original The Bands off Yaounde/Studio Cameroon (World Music Network).
