Salar de Pastos Large

The Salar de Pastos Grandes is a salar of Argentina, located in a depression of the north-eastern area of the Puna of the province of Salta, in the Département of Los the Andes.

The salar is distant of 330 kilometers per road from the town of Salta. One reaches it by the trunk road 51, which one leaves with height of Poma, to take a minor road towards Santa Rosa of los Pastos Grandes.

One can also reach it from the station of the Railroad General Manual Belgrano of Salar de Pocitos, via provincial roads 129 (course of more or less 60 kilometers).

This salar conceals very great concentrations of borate S, highest of the salars of Argentina. One finds there also layers of Ulexite (Lithium), just as in the geological formations of the Pléistocène surrounding the salar.
