. The Salar de Coipasa is a salar or salt desert of Bolivia located in the Département of Oruro. It is at an altitude of 3.657 meters in the mid-west part of the Andean Altiplano. It is more or less 70 km length on 50 km broad and a surface of 2.218 km ².
Its coordinates are: 19°15´ of southern latitude and 68°10´ of western longitude.
It is, after the Salar de Uyuni, the largest second salar of country and it entirely surrounds the Lac Coipasa. The rocks which surround it are before very volcanic, with sporadically some outcrops of sedimentary rocks, in the west of the salar.
