Sakyong
The Sakyong Mipham Rinpoché is a Master of meditation trained in the schools Nyingma and Kagyu of the Bouddhisme Tibetan. He is the holder of the line Bouddhiste Shambhala established by his father, regretted the Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoché.
Biography
Sakyong Mipham Jampal Trinley Dradül Rinpoche, oldest son of Vidyadhara Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoché, was born the December 11th 1962 in India, with Bodh-Gaya, under the name of Ösel Rangdrol Mukpo.Ösel Rangdrol spent the first years of its life with his/her mother in a village of refugees Tibetans of the North-West of the India. At the 7 years age it comes to live with his father in the center of meditation of Samye Ling in Scotland, then in 1971, it joined his/her father and his mother-in-law - Diana Mukpo - with Boulder, in Colorado (the USA). It continues its Buddhist studies there at the same time as its Western education. It then receives also a formation in various contemplative arts such as Kyudo (art of the shooting to the Japanese arc), penmanship, floral arrangement Ikebana, the ceremony of the and horsemanship.
During a ceremony in 1978, Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoché conferred on Ösel Rangdrol the title of Sawang (" Lord of Terre"). Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoché establishes it at the same time like its heir, while insisting particularly on the propagation of the lesson Shambhala, which he thought fundamental for the establishment of Dharma in Occident. From the point of view which his/her son would be one day established Sakyong, as it had itself be, Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoché continued the formation of Sawang while following it personally very near.
Sawang accepted also many lesson and capacities of large Masters of the lines Kagyupa and Nyingmapa of the Bouddhisme Tibetan, among which the 16th Karmapa, Tenga Rinpoché, Kalou Rinpoché, Tulku Urgyen Rinpoché and Penor Rinpoché, then of the line Nyingmapa. The large Master Nyingmapa, become him also chief of the line Nyingmapa until his death, Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoché was like a second father for him.
While Sawang continued its studies in the Western academic system in England, Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoché required of him to come to Asia food and to study under its direction, informing that it would have with " to take the responsability to continue the lesson of sound père". After the death of his/her father in 1987, Sawang settled with the Nepal where he studied with Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoché during many years.
In 1990, following the death of the Regent Vajra Ösel Tendzin, who filled, since the death of Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoché, the function of chief of the organizations that this one had founded, Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoché, knowing the difficulties which the community met, required of Sawang to return to Occident to assume its responsibilities by taking its direction. Sawang then started to travel to teach through the United States, Canada and Europe, while continuing its personal practice of meditation and study.
In 1990, on request of Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoché, the oldest son of Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoché, Sawang returned from one study period and practice with Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoché to the Nepal, in order to take the head of the community and to direct work that his/her father, Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoché, had started.
In 1992, whereas it directed a programme of three months of advanced studies and meditation, Sawang announced the creation of a total organization, Shambhala, to gather the activities of the many organizations founded by Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoché. Shambhala includes now Vajradhatu, way of traditional Buddhist lesson, the Shambhala Training, secular program of meditation and the art of the warrior and the Nalanda Foundation which is dedicated to the educational programs, social and artistic. According to the terms of Sawang, the guiding line of Shambhala International is to allow " with all the traditions which we inherited to open out each one with their clean façon".
In May 1995, whereas the organization celebrated its 25 years, that the Shambhala centers developed throughout the world and that the community of Nova Scotia was well established, Sawang was formally established Sakyong, chief at the same time of the spiritual and secular aspects of Shambhala. The ceremony of establishment of the Sakyong , which in the past had been carried out for his/her father, Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoché, was directed by Penor Rinpoché. During the ceremony, it confirmed Sawang like Mipham Rinpoché, descendant of Mipham Jamyang Namgyal, Master of meditation Tibetan venerated and erudite of the 19th century, and the title of Sakyong conferred to him. The Sakyong or " Guard of Terre" has as a function to inspire the direction of crowned, the concern of the others and fundamental kindness at the same time with the individuals and the company as a whole. Establishment formalized engagement for the life of the Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche to work with the others for the creation of an waked up company.
Its actions
The monastery of Surmang, seat of Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoché was destroyed at the end of the Fifties following the Chinese military invasion of the Tibet then during the Cultural revolution and badly rebuilt in the Eighties. The purpose of the Konchok Foundation, created by Sakyong Mipham Rinpoché is the rebuilding of the monastery of the line of Trungpa, spiritual and temporal authority of the area of Surmang in Tibet.
