Sakura Kinomoto

Sakura Kinomoto (} is a fictitious Personnage created by CLAMP, heroin of the Anime and the Manga Cardcaptor Sakura . It is also known under the name of Sakura Avalon in the English adaptation Cardcaptors , like Sakura Gaultier in the French adaptation Sakura Chasseuse de Cartes .

It is mentioned in ×××HOLiC and is a main character in Tsubasa - Tank CHRoNiCLE-, two other work of CLAMP.

Name

The Prénom Sakura (桜) means flower of cherry tree . The creative ones of the manga probably gave him this name compared to its physical beauty and its happy attitude. Its Family name, Kinomoto (木之本), means literally the origin of wood .

Character

At the commencement of the series, Sakura is a pupil of fourth 10 years year at the elementary school Tomoeda. When it opens one entitled book the Book of Clow ( The Clow in its original version) and it allows the release of the magic charts thus, Sakura is recruited by Kerberos to find the charts (to capture them). The English voice is doubled by Carly McKillip for the complete series and first film, then by Kari Wahlgren for second film. In the French series, Sakura is doubled by Patricia Legrand.

The design of the character of Sakura for the manga was originally developed by Mokona of CLAMP. Sakura is based on the niece of Mokona, Kawaji, which was then two years old. Kawaji had short hair as well as plaits, which is rather similar to Sakura in the Anime and the Manga.

Magic

Relations

Shaolan Li (Lionel)

The relation between Sakura and Lionel Shaolan Li (Li Showron) is recognized, because second half of the series is based on the development of this relation. What is most significant in this relation is the change of opinion of Shaolan towards Sakura, especially because Sakura is a person in the large heart. At the commencement of the series, Shaolan immediately regards Sakura as a rival, when he discovers that Sakura is chasseuse charts. It concluded that Sakura does not deserve the responsibility to be chasseuse charts. Sakura in Tsubasa - Tank CHRoNiCLE- and ×××HOLiC

Sakura is also in the series Tsubasa - Tank CHRoNiCLE- (TRC). Its personality and its appearance are similar to Cardcaptor Sakura , only similar things between the two series. TRC has a new history which develops new interractions between all the characters.

In xxxHOLiC, even if Sakura does not appear directly, Yūko mentions it on several occasions and has a counterpart of its first magic stick. It refers to Sakura and its " compagnon" , by regretting not knowing them, but satisfies soon to meet them, even if " they are not completely the mêmes". It is thus understood not only that the events of xxxHOLiC proceed after TRC, but also that Sakura Kinomoto and Shaolan Li are always together.

At the commencement of the series of TRC, Sakura is the princess of the kingdom of Clow. She has feelings towards Syaoran, her friend of childhood. But right before being able to declare its feelings to him, a mysterious force makes him lose its memory. This memory, materialized in the shape of feathers, is dispersed in several dimensions. Syaoran then tries to find them. Fei Wong (mysterious the malfaisante in Tsubasa) is based on the capacities of people like Seishirou and Yūko to make them travel of one dimension to the other.
