Saiyan

The Saiyans are imaginary people developed by Akira Toriyama in the Manga Dragon Ball . Several characters, whose heroes, His Gokû belong to these people Extraterrestre whose existence is revealed only in the middle of the series. Saiyans hold then a dominating place in the intrigue.

Origin of the term “Saiyan”

In the version Japanese E of the manga, the individuals belonging to these people are called サイヤ人 , which is transcribed in Saiya-jin according to the Méthode Hepburn, that is to say Saiyan (the Suffixe - jin meaning inhabitant of Japanese ). The initial translation in French of the Animates, relatively approximate, adopted Warlike use of the expression the “of space” to designate these people, since it is about extraterrestrial people come from the planet Vegeta.

Toriyama integrates many word games in its mangas and in particular in the names of the characters and the people. Thus, in Dragon Ball , the word Saiya is a Anagramme of Yasai which means “Légume” in Japanese. One finds in the names of Saiyans the lexical Champ of the Végétal:

  • Vegetated ( Bejita ): vegetable (" légume" in English)
  • Kakarotto (name Saiyan of Its Gokû): carrot
  • Raditz: radish
  • Broly ( Burorî ): broccoli
  • Thalès ( Tāresu ): anagram of retasu , Japanese transcription of the English word " lettuce" (lettuce)

History of Saiyans

A long time before the beginning of the history, Saiyans lived on the Planet Végéta. It was hostile and warlike people with the pay of a combatant who controlled all the galaxy: Freezer. One day, Freezer, which feared Saiyans, destroyed the Vegeta planet. Only some nationals, hidden or on mission on another planets, survived.

Saiyans, when they do not change, have a normal appearance, very near to the human one. They have developed enough muscles, black hair (which do not push any more after the birth), and a tail of monkey (which they can lose). Their force and their appetite are out of the commun run. They are bad of nature, and have a pride, a pride and a thirst for unbounded capacity.

When Saiyans are exposed in the light of full moon, they are transformed into gigantic monkeys (if they have their tail of monkey). Their power is multiplied by ten, and they lose any reason. Let us note that the tail of monkey can be a weakness when somebody the greenhouse very strong, the saiyan loses any energy then. The accomplished warriors control this transformation after having often carried it out (Végéta has all its reason when it changes vis-a-vis Its Gokû on ground).

Supers Saiyans

Saiyans are capable of Métamorphose R in creatures of combat: the Super Saiyans. They have yellow hair then, the green eyes and their power becomes exceptional (multiplying by 50). A slight trouble settles in them, but with the practice, they can push back it.

They can also exceed, with drive, the level of Super Saiyan. On the second level, they acquire a power even more considerable. Their Muscle S becomes more developed a little and their hair is roughcast a little more. Their speed is also developed.

On the third level, their yellow hair becomes long, their arcades sourcilières thicken and their eyebrows disappear, and of course their force and their speed are gigantic.

At the time of their fourth transformation, they resemble more and more a monkey, a fur appears on their body, the tail which Its Gokû and Végéta lost reappears  ; their eyes are ringed of red. (this transformation takes place only in Dragon Ball WP)

The fact of changing is very hard for Saiyans, and asks them a drive and a self-control very intense. Moreover their state, once transformed, asks them much energy, exacerbates their pride and decreases their life expectancy (which is more of triple of that of human).

Saiyans Mongrel

Its Gohan , Trunks , Its Goten and Bra result from the union of Saiyan and a human : Its Gohan and Its Goten are the wire of Its Gokû and Chichi, while Trunks and Bra are the children of Vegetated and Bulma. These two last have the characteristic to have the hair green blue/and not blacks, surely inherited their Bulma mother.

Pan is resulting from the union of semi-Saiyan (Its Gohan) and of human (Videl).

Lastly, Its Gokû Junior and Vegetated Junior and his/her mother who resembles Bulma much, which appears many generations after the other characters, has an unspecified share of Saiyan blood.
