Saintois
The Saintois is an area located at the south of the department of Meurthe-et-Moselle, in the area Lorraine, in France. Even if its limits are more or less dubious, it is considered today that the territory of Saintois corresponds to the cantons of Haroué and of Vézelise. It in addition inspires the Communauté of communes of Saintois.
Geology
The ground of Saintois constituted formerly the bottom of an ocean: many traces of marine fossils, commonly known under the name of stars of Sion, are in the fields of the plain and on the Colline of Sion.
History
The current country of Saintois is the heir to old the Comté of Vaudémont, territory independent of the Duché of Lorraine until the 15th century.
