He tells events former to the manga Saint Seiya (known in French under the title of the cartoon Knights of the Zodiac ). G of the title refers to the Gold , due to the fact that the main characters are the Chevaliers of Gold ( Gold Saints ).
Synopsis
In 1979, the Gold Knight of the Lion, Aiolia, supports the suspicion of the inhabitants of the Sanctuary since the treason and the death of his brother Aiolos. During this time, a powerful force prepares to attack the Sanctuary: the Titans want to release Cronos by taking again its weapon hidden in the Sanctuary.
Comments
Using secondary intrigues in the first volume, the series tries to explain how the Sanctuary continues to exist in the world of the end of the 20th century (what Saint Seiya tried to do with the first chapters before not preserving only that the fights between the Bronze Knights and the servants of unfavourable gods). Moreover each volume of the manga comprises one or more interludes (or Gaiden) which explore or discover a little more the personality or the past of the main characters. The daily life with the Sanctuary there is also explored giving a little more body to work (to détrimant of the action and the combat some will say). Also, and contrary to the rather simplistic original series in this field, handling between the leaders of the various camps is many and frequent and tends to muddle the intrigue. Thus among Saga, Pontos and Cronos, it is difficult to know which handles which (or is made handle by which).
Side graphics, Saint Seiya Épisode G is one cannot Saint Seiya contrary to. If the original (in manga) suffered from a simplified graphics and techniques from drawings and framings largely inspired from the style from the Seventies, the episode G suffers contrary to a superabundance from the details and massive use of data processing. Thus the boards are very often overloaded and very dark when returned in levels of gray, which returns the deciphering of the rather difficult action. However, the covers and the interludes are printed colors.
Another thing which could reject the former readers of Seiya Saint is the design of the characters and the armours which is here very different from that of the original series. With bodies much finer, at the same time androgynes and muscular, it perhaps difficult with the first glance to recognize characters, who have certainly a few years less but which should not be different at this point. Gold Armours and of Money although of form similar are detailed also much and decorated that their Kurumadiens equivalents.
