The commune backs an agricultural activity of mixed-farming and breeding. The quasi-integrality of the territory is covered with cereal or fodder culture (Maïs, Blé, Tournesol, Orge S, Colza, Fourragère S…). Some vines still testify to the wine past of the area. In 2006, the selection saint-loupéenne was brilliantly essential 4-0 on the ground of ES Moors and beat the players of Tonnay-Buttons 6-0.
The heterogeneous territory of the commune predisposes it galement E with hunting, amply practiced with Saint-Wolf. The marsh in particular, avicolous high-place of migration, is strewn with tons or is practiced the Chasse of winter night. The marsh and its channels are also a known appointment of the sinners of the area.
Remarkable, hostile and mysterious place of the commune, the marsh at summer drained by convicts (time?). It was found a submitted report/ratio with Louis XIV evoking this places like a flooded unhealthy marsh from September to June. If it were used, more or less anecdotiquement, for the extraction of the Tourbe, the grazing ground of the bovines and the culture of bean (famous the Mojhette), it is recently that the Maïs iculture allowed a real exploitation of this territory. The floods however remain annual, from October/December at February/April.
The inhabitants of the commune lived a long time of the wine production (Eau-de-vie, Pineau, Vin) and of oil of Noix. In the few water mills testify still existing (Goux). Following the destruction of the vineyards by the Phylloxéra in the years 1860, the Vendean influence pushed the buildings to turn more and more to the bovine breeding slags. This period marks also the beginning of the farm of the marsh like meadows of grazing ground.
