Saint-Wolf-on-Aujon
Saint-Wolf-on-Aujon is a common French, located in the department of the Haute-Marne and the area Champagne-Ardenne. In 1972 amalgamated with Saint-Wolf-on-Aujon the commune of Courcelles-on-Aujon and Eriseul.
Geography
History
- Courcelles was until the XVIIIème century the center of a Baronnie; Courcelotte. In 1245, Simon of Châteauvillain makes build, at the edge of the Aujon, a castle-extremely surrounded by broad ditches. The powerful Baron de Courcelotte is also lord of Ternat and Chameroy. During centuries, this castle is occupied by the lords of Plain, then by the family of Saulx, all vassal of the lord of Arc-in-Barrois. The last owner is, in 1789, the Duc of Penthièvre. The baronnie of Courcelotte belongs to Burgundy.

In 1377, a charter of stamping is given to Saint-Wolf-on-Aujon. It was abandoned in 1470 because of the wars.
