Saint-Vincent-Ferrier fraternity

The Fraternité Saint-Vincent-Ferrier , whose seat is with Cheméré-the-King in Mayenne, is a catholic religious community traditionalist of inspiration Dominicaine. It is not affiliated with the Ordre of the Preachers.

History

Saint-Vincent-Ferrier Fraternity was founded in 1979 by the father Louis-Marie de Blignières. She is in the beginning close to the father Michel-Louis Guérard of the Bay-trees and her ideas sedevacantists. In 1981, the first brothers make professions. The year 1982 sees the launching of large work in their priory of Chéméré: a church is arranged in the old commun runs, a cloister then a library are built.

From 1986, the community approaches Rome, and in 1987 the first brothers start to supplement their course of studies Thomistes by the acquisition of university degrees. In 1988, the community is set up canonically by the Commission Ecclesia Dei like religious Institut of pontifical right and the first brothers are ordered priests.

In 1992, Mgr Louis-Marie Ball, bishop of Laval blesses hotel trade, place of reception of reprocessing. Approval by the the Holy See of the final Constitutions takes place in 1995. Mgr Armand Maillard, bishop of Laval comes to bless the cloister in 1998. This year sees the election of the Father Louis-Marie de Blignières like prior of Fraternity by the general chapter. He is re-elected in 2004.

Dominican spirit

Disciples of Holy Thomas d' Aquin, the brothers regard themselves as apostles, whose preaching is directed towards the “safety of the hearts by the light” (holy Catherine of His).

This community counts about fifteen monk (seven priests and a deacon), residing at the convent Saint-Thomas-with Aquin with Chémeré-the-King in Mayenne. The monks carry out a fraternal life shared between speech, song Grégorien of the offices and manual or intellectual work. Several fathers look further into their formation while passing the university degrees (theology with the Catholic Université of the West of Angers, philosophy in the Sorbonne).

Of obedience traditionalist, this community prints a review, Sedes Sapientiae , where intervene of the priests and the laic ones.
