Places and monuments

With the foot heights of the wood of Chabannes, on a plate bordered in north by the valley of the Grande Digs, Saint-Sulpice has a remarkable church in more than one way: for its western gate (XIIe), with curves and posts, for an interesting whole of let us modillons (southern cornice), but especially for its powerful strengthened bell-tower, being connected with a true keep which one supposes to be built about 1400. The chorus of origin was altered in XIVe century (ribbed vault) and was raised at that time at the time of work of fortification. The low northern side and the adjacent vault date from XVe century. On the cornice of the southern part, one notices a curious whole of modillons carved.

With approximately 2 kilometers of Saint-Sulpice-the-Dunois, perched on a height with 473 meters, the picturesque hamlet of the Mas Midsummer's Day is, with a romantic vault. This building, of a gracious simplicity with its walls out of dry stone and its sloping roof in tiles punts, was built about 1115, when the Count of Walk made gift of the ground around to the monks of Aureil to found a transitory priory there. This vault today is sheltered by an enormous lime several times centenary (with one meter of the ground, the circumference of the trunk is largely higher than 12 meters). A pious legend ensures that Jeanne d' Arc would have requested in this place at the time of a ride in company of Jean de Brosse, the marshal of Boussac. It of it is nothing, because it is for a long time proven that the Virgin never put the feet in the county of Walk either but in Bas-Berry…
