Saint-Sulpice-of-cognac

Saint-Sulpice-of-Cognac is a common French, located in the department of the Charente and the area Poitou-Charentes.

Geography

History

Crossed by the Roman way Holy-Limoges known as Via Clutched with a terminal millaire in extreme cases of the Charente-Maritime, At Rateau.

The quarries stone calcareous coming from the edge of the valley del' Antenne were exploited since antiquity.

Rupestral tombs which would date from the Middle Ages were found in Chaudrolles.

March 7th, 1787 the representatives of Saint-Sulpice and the enclave of Migron at the preliminary assembly of the General states which is held with the chapter house of Récollets de Cogac are the H.Phelippot notary, P. of Robertière, P.Morillaud and J.Rayé
