Saint-Saulve

Saint-Saulve is a common French, located in the department of the Northern and the area Nord-Pas-de-Calais.

Geography

Saint-Saulve is a commune of more than 11.000 inhabitants in extreme cases of Valencian, with a few kilometers of the Belgian border.

City with the thousand and ones colors thanks to its many floors of flowers, Saint-Saulve takes part in the contest of the flowered cities since there exists in 1959. In 1960, the city obtained the 1st price of district and the 2nd departmental price. The commune at summer devoted 4 times flowered city

Surrounded by many industrial parks, Saint-Saulve is an economic city at the height potential.

History

The city took the name of the bishop of Angouleme which, martyrized in 801, had officiated there for the last time. Charlemagne founded there a Basilique in its honor. A Prieuré of Bénédictin S there was installed with the Xe century and was transformed into Abbaye with the XVIIe century.

Places and monuments

  • the Organ S of the church Saint Martin's day: built at the same time as the church and inaugurated the day of its dedication, the July 16th 1865, the organ of Saint-Saulve, although not classified, can be qualified histories. They were built by the organ builders Merklin and Schutze.

  • the tragic actress Catherine Joséphine Duchesnois (1777 - 1835).

Schools

Saint Saulve counts four schools whose oldest of the center built in the Années 1890 is the school. One also finds there the school of Rôleur which makes nursery school and elementary school, the college Lavoisier which comprises 600 pupils. Lastly, the school of the Moulin-Rouge is a small nursery school which does not exceed the 50 pupils.

Center economic

The town of Saulve Saint knows a beautiful economic growth thanks to the industrial center of the Scheldt.
