Personalities related to the commune

  • Andre CONTENSOU, charismatic and old mayor man of the maquis, engages in the FFI in 1944, with his/her Raymond brother who will be carried out by German in June of the same year. This mayor has much work for the drinking water network of the village, for the highway network like for the school and the administrative opening-up of the commune. André Contensou was born on January 23rd, 1923 with Loupiac (Cantal), it is deceased on April 20th, 1999 with Aurillac. This strong personality made a brilliant career with the SNCF and accepted several medals for its competences; he was a traction chief liked and appreciated for his direction of the responsibilities. Having begun like " arpette" (as it enjoyed to even say it him) it climbs then the levels, recovering to study when the need was felt some. His first wife, Paulette Brau (deceased in 1969) will give him, in 1945, a son: Raymond (pensioner BTP). It remarie in 1974 with Antoinette Ibanès and will have two more children: Olivier in 1976 (enquiring professor/in Philosophy) and Caroline in 1979 (nurse). In spite of its sometimes inopportune character it could impose on the village a coherent policy and integrate in its team the most various elements, and the most original proposals. Last mandate of mayor 1983-1989, it was not only, this man was always very present in the life of the commune to which it knew to give a very particular dash. Its memory remains quite present in all the memories that it is as a mayor, man of the maquis, friend or a relative. Its policy, influenced by the rise of socialism mitterrandien, can be described as realistic and pragmatic. André Contensou was a " fonceur" but a " fonceur" reflected, which had known to learn all the lessons from its personal experience. There to date remains one of the most outstanding personalities of the commune, much can testify some. Atheist but tolerant, political but of ground, large curious about varied daily newspapers and weekly magazines, large reader as testifies his libraries to them (more than 600 volumes), it could always adapt to the situations which occurred to him. Thus its open-minded enabled him to adapt to his/her children Caroline and Olivier, of which it would have could be the large father! He was an excellent father. In 1989 he divorced his second wife with whom he however kept excellent reports/ratios until the end of his life. Original character, frankly, liking the life and his pleasures, sometimes coleric even whimsical, it is the symbol of a whole period saint santinoise, period of progress and victories, emulation, great employers' festivals, ideas. He is and will remain as Victor Hugo " said it; A force which va" , or as Nietzsche " said; A destin" or perhaps " a dynamite" …
