Saint-Sandoux
Saint-Sandoux is a common French in the Département of the Puy-de-Dôme in Auvergne.
History
Of origin Gallo-Roman, the village of Sandoux Saint is called Maismac until the 11th century before taking as Patronyme the name of the saint to which its church is then dedicated. " Sindulfus" , solitary priest mérovingien of the 7th century which gives its name to the village, was born in Aquitaine and becomes hermit in the area of Rheims where he dies on October 20th 620. The legend tells that miracles take place on the place of its burial. As of 1080 the Abbaye of Chair-God has a Prieuré in Saint-Sandoux and one finds the traces of a community of priests godsons (born and baptized in the Paroisse).
As from the 13th century the village is under the domination of the powerful family of the Turn of Auvergne which built a Château there. These possessions fall into the hands from Catherine de Médicis at the 16th century which then makes donation of this field to its first Master of hotel Antoine de Sarlans. In 1607 the descendants of this last sell the village with the Seigneur of Through, François de Girard for the sum of 19 000 pounds.
