Saint-Quentin-Fallavier

Saint-Quentin Fallavier is a common French, located in the department of the Isere and the area the Rhone-Alps.

Geography

St Quentin fallavier is located in Isere, in extreme cases with the department of the Rhone, on the axis A43, Lyon/Grenoble, respectively has 24kms of Lyon and, 80 of Grenoble. The city is leant has a series of hills, signs of the préalpes. To 15 km of the airport St Exupery.

History

The site of Fallavier was occupied as of prehistory. A necropolis Gallo-Roman and a hydraulic work of the 2nd century were on the spot discovered. A first castle existed already at the 13th century and, after having acquired it in 1250, the counts of Savoy make it increase and reinforce. At the end of the frontier conflict between the Savoy and the Dauphine , the castle is forsaken little by little with the profit of the strong house of Allinges.

Mines of Fer are worked at the 19th century.

By an order in Council of the July 2nd, 1885, Fallavier is attached to Saint-Quentin to form only one commune: Saint-Quentin-Fallavier.

the Château of Fallavier (13th century) includes/understands two enclosures and a circular keep. It offers an exceptional panoramic sight.

Economy

St Quentin Fallavier has the greatest logistic industrial park of France, and one of the first at the European level. Traffic of 5000 heavy truck/day. And the zone does not cease growing… This is due to a43 junction on the commune which gives access to Lyon (node of communication), its proximity of the Airport St Exupery, and line the SNCF Lyon/Chambéry/Grenoble. The junctions freight are numerous there, and a future extention towards Italy and in particular Turin is always of topicality. The main activity is logistics there (1,5 million m2 of warehouses at the beginning of 2007). The ZI counts 283 companies for a wage total of 11200 people. Mainly on the sectors industrie/BTP & Services.
