History
Colonization starts at the XIXe century. In
1895, the parish of
Saint-Pierre-Véronne is officially set up continuations of its detachment with the limithrophes municipalities of Saint-Georges-with-Clarenceville, of Our-Lady-of-Angel-with-Stanbridge,
Stanbridge Station and Saint-Sebastien. During the creation of the municipality in
1912, the element
Pike-To rivet was added to
Saint-Pierre-Véronne . Many immigrants of the Swiss
,
Belgium and
Poland settled in this locality.
Toponymy
The element
véronne of the name seems to come from the Italian
city Vérone, although in
Italian this name is written only with one
N . The component
Saint-Pierre returns to the Dominican
Pierre de Vérone (about 1205-1252), although it seems that the citizens wanted initially to pay homage to their first priest, Pierre-Joseph Cardin, who will make build a church and a presbytery in
1893. Lastly, the element
Pike-To rivet is only the simple English
translation of the name of the river to the Brochet which crosses the territory of the municipality.
Economic activities
The argriculture and the milk industry represent the whole of the economic activity of the municipality.
