Saint-Philbert-of-Large-Place

Saint-Philbert-of-Large-Place is a common French, located in the department of the Loire-Atlantique and the area Pays of the Loire.

The inhabitants of the communes are called the Philbertins and Philbertines .

Geography

Saint-Philbert is located at the south-eastern end of the Lac of Large-Place which makes besides integral part of the territory of the commune. The borough moreover is crossed by the Boulogne, just before this one is not thrown in the lake. Boulogne is navigable, one can sin there by having a license.

History

Called " formerly; Déas" , the commune owes its current name with the fact that the monks of the Abbaye of Noirmoutier (founded by Philibert de Tournus into 675), decide to settle there in the year 800. They build the church of the abbey news in 815 (which remains one of oldest of France) and there deposit the relics of the saint in 836.

At the time of the incursions Normans in 847, after the confusion of the abbey, the monks rebuild the nave of the building, in the state where one can currently see it. In 858, the Norman ones return, but this time, the monks flee, taking along the relics of Philibert saint until Tournus. They return to settle in Déas at the 11th century and await the return of the relics, remained in Burgundy, until in 1937.

With the breaking news the relics of Philbert saint are always in Tournus, only a small tube containing of dust of relics was deposited by Henri Curé, in the sarcophagus, which remained to him in Déas, at the time that it came to bless the statue of Philbert saint to Beauvoir (85).
