Saint-Maurice-with Ételan is a common French, located in the department of the Seine-Maritime and the area High-Normandy.

Geography

The commune of Saint-Maurice-in Ételan is located between the Havre and Rouen on the D281 secondary road, near the communes of Our-Lady-with-Gravenchon, Caudebec-in-Caux, Villequier, Lillebonne and Yvetot, not far from the beaches of Etretat, of Yport, Dieppe, Fécamp, Honfleur, Deauville and Trouville-on-Sea.

The village niche in the center of the first loop of the the Seine and dominates a vast alluvial plain, the " Marais".

  • Castle of the 15th century in the blazing Renaissance style classified MH - DH/VMF
    • the first castle of Etelan, pertaining to Pierre Picart d' Etelan (death with the Battle of the Lock in 1340), was destroyed during the Guerre One hundred Year old. In 1494, Louis Picart d' Etelan receives 700 pounds of the Duc of Orleans to rebuild its house. The home and the vault correspond to this construction campaign. The gate and the farm were high at the 17th century. Buildings of the farm were built at the 18th century. In 1772, Joseph Belhomme surmounts the stair-well of a visible stage on old engravings. In 1867, Madam of Wood-Hébert makes restore the home whose south-western side was completely ruined, to remove the construction of 1772 and to restore the cover and the attic windows. Before 1893, Simon, architect with Rouen, undertakes a large restoration campaign with construction of a work of entry for Mrs Auguste Desgenetais. The central part of the home, destroyed by a fire in 1944, was restored in 1968, the other parts and the vault since 1975.
  • Eglise of the 15th century Classée
    • the current church was built at the end of the 15th century or at the beginning of the 16th century, to replace a first church located at the locality Valois Wood. In 1845, a bay was bored by Semel, plasterer with Lillebonne. The arrow was rebuilt in 1899. A restoration of the building is envisaged by the municipality in the years 2007 - 2008.
