It should not be confused with common the homonym of Saint-Martin-on-Ocher (Yonne) .

History
The tradition reports that the name of the glorious holy Martin, bishop of Tours, was given to this country after the invasion of the Norman ones. Small Christian communities, disseminated in the immense forest of Orleans going in pilgrimage on the passage of the convoy transporting of the relics of the saint, fleeing the Norman ones. With the return by the waterway, in end of the 9th century, the relics would have perhaps stopped at the current place of the church. The parishes of the name of Martin saint being legion, they had to be distinguished. Of or the Ocher complement (Ocra) of the name of the brook which delimits the commune in the east of its territory.
