Geography

Saint Martin d' Ollières blottit between the Flat To be combined it and the first buttresses of the Livradois, at the border of the Puy-de-Dôme and the Haute-Loire whose current Puy-de-Dôme and canton of Brioude formed at the time pre-revolutionist Low-Auvergne; it is located at 35 km in the south-east of Issoire, to 30 km in the North-East of Brioude, to 35 km in the west of Chair-God, on the first buttresses of Livradois while coming from the plain Allier.

History

Why this double nom : Saint Martin and Ollières?

The first church was built beside the village of Relieve and that it named Saint Martin , either in homage to the saint or by deformation of the name of the place which could have been " bleeds of Martin" (source : Roger Richard). In parallel undoubtedly of other clearers settled in another village - Ollières -, located at seven kilometers. This word " ollières" can mean that one made Poterie there. If the church were built beside Soulages and not in Ollières, it is probably that 0llières was inhabited less.

Thus, their unit to which some other villages were incorporated formed the parish known as of Saint-Martin-in Ollières whose complete name is used in the first parochial registers with the whole beginning of the 17th century.

The church

Of 1317 to the Legal settlement of 1802, the parish was attached to the évêché of Saint-Flour (created in 1317 by Jean XXII). Before and after, it belongs to évêché of Clermont-Ferrand.

The Abbaye of Chair-God had a Prieuré with Saint-Germain-the Herm whose prior made a ground donation to those which cleared there, which involved the creation of the church. That explains why the Curés of Saint-Martin-in Ollières were named by him.

In 1664 a Chapelle dedicated to Saint Joseph was built in Ollières which gradually ends up supplanting the church and taking its place : the important characters little by little will be made there bury between its walls and the cemetery of Martin Saint is attended more only by the inhabitants of Relieve and in 1761, the Cimetière itself does not receive any more new inhabitants. IN 1820, Saint Martin's day is still upright but in the years 1950 only two scraps of walls keep trace of it. Today nothing any more remains about it.

In 1827, the current church is built, dedicated to Saint Like and Holy Damien. According to the oral tradition it would not be on the site of old (which would have been located in the district of Farge, beside the principal place).

Lords

According to the parochial Register of 1605, the parish belongs to mandement and the Baronnie of Châteauneuf of Drac.

In 1704, a parochial register announces in 1698 that the Gueringaud family living in Estroupiat is " coseigneur "

With the XVIIIe century, the Paroisse is distributed between two different lords: of Lespinasse and of Shuttle.

conclusion

Saint Martin d' Ollières is at the border of Livradois and the Brivadois, with horse on two Seigneurie S, and alternate between Diocèse of Clermont, then of Saint-Flour, then of CLermont. The traces of its history are thus quartered between multiple sources which remain to be dug.
