History

Paul Raymond note that Saint-Martin-in Arberoue is old a baronnie set up in 1657, vassal of the Royaume of Navarre.
In 1790, Saint-Martin-in Arberoue was the chief town of a canton made up of the communes of Méharin, Saint-Esteben, Saint-Martin-in Arberoue, of Ayherre and Isturits, depend on the district of Saint-Palate.
