The Région of Saint-Louis is one of the 11 areas of the Senegal, that located more at north of the country. It skirts the border Mauritanian to the mouth of the Fleuve Senegal.

History

Current cutting results from the decree n° 2002-166 of February 21st, 2002. Previously the area, more extended, also included/understood Matam and its surroundings.

The area is made up of 3 departments:

• Department of Dagana
• Department of Podor
• Department of Saint-Louis
