Saint-Louis is a common French, located in the department of the Guadeloupe.

Geography

Saint-Louis is located at the North-West of the Marie-Gallant island of of which it is the largest commune. Delimited in the south by the Saint-Louis river and north by a high cliff, its territory is separate into two by a fault known as the Bar . The river of the Old man-Extremely the cross-piece. The west coast is bordered of many beaches.

History

Amerindian populations had been installed of long time on the territory of Saint-Louis. The French colonists built with the locality Old man-Extremely their first occupation on the island in 1648. The name of Saint-Louis appears on a chart only in 1760.
