Saint-Like-in Olt

Saint-Like-with Olt is a common French, located in the department of the Aveyron and the area the Midday-Pyrenees. Its inhabitants is called Saint-Cômois.

History

The city in the beginning was around the Romance vault of Bouisse of the 10th century dedicated to Pierre saint then in Notre-Dame. This Romance vault is closed down today, but it was used a long time as seat with the Penitent white.

The pilgrimage of Compostelle

On the Via Podiensis of the Pilgrimage of Saint-Jacques-to-Compostelle .
One comes from Saint-Chély-with Aubrac, the next commune is Espalion , and its church of Persia. With proximity there was a hospital where stopped the pilgrims of Saint-Jacob. It is mentioned in the acts of 12th and 13th century.

During the Revolution Saint-Like-with Olt Mountain-on-Batch was named.

The parish church dedicated to saint Like and holy Damien

It was built in 1522 increasing that which existed since the 13th century, it has a curious bell-tower flaminé in gimlet, called twisted Clocher, a gate with carved casements rebirth. The Vault of the Penitent ones

Personalities related to the commune

Ignace-Blesmond Bernard, born the July 30th 1768 in the hamlet of Sonilhac close to Saint-Like-in Olt (Aveyron): Brigadier of the Napoleonean armies. He dies the January 7th 1843 at the sixty fifteen years age with Saint-Like-in Olt near his family and his Antoine brother.
