Saint-Leu is a balneal city of the Meeting, on the west coast. Its inhabitants is called Saint-Leusiens.
Geography
The communal territory culminates with 2.787 meters of altitude, in the vicinity immediate of the top of the Grand Bénare. It is bordering on those of the Avirons,
Cilaos and
Three-Basins.
History
The common car its name of that of a storekeeper, Din of Laleu. In
1811, it was the starting point of the only revolt of slaves whom the island knew, the Révolte of slaves of Saint-Leu.

- the college of the Point of the Castles.
One in addition finds there a college public of teaching, general, professional and technological, the college of Stella, which counted 655 pupils with the re-entry 2005.

Saint-Leu regularly accommodates many sporting championships of international significance, for example the championships of the world of
Parapente. The commune shelters a spot of famous Surf for its left of quality and was already a stage of the professional turn.
Each year, during the southern Winter, the commune is in addition the host of the Leu Tempo Festival, the Sakifo and the pilgrimage of Salette. Gully-Saint-Leu accommodates also each year three or four giant concerts organized by the label Keep in touch. The capacity of the scene arranged as from the end of the Années 1990 is today of 7.000 people.
