Saint-Julien-in-Genevese is a common French, located in the department of the Haute-Savoie and the area the Rhone-Alps. The inhabitants of Saint-Julien-in-Genevese are called the Saint-Juliennois .
Geography
Source: Site of Saint-Julien-in-GeneveseSub-prefecture of the north of Haute-Savoie (Rhone-Alps area), Saint-Julien-in-Genevese , frontier town with the Canton of Geneva, is in the Genevese high-Savoyard between Vuache (1100 m) and Mont Salève (1357 m).
Health resort located at an altitude of 460 meters, a surface of approximately 1 500 hectares, St Julien counts 11  today; 000 inhabitants.
St Julien is located at 10 km of Geneva, 35 km of Annecy, 15 km of Annemasse, 47 km of Thonon, 82 km of Chambéry, 135 km of Grenoble, 140 km of Lyon and 530 km of Paris, 90 km of Chamonix, 74 km of Lausanne, 205 km of Dijon and 286 km of Turin.
The inhabitants of Saint-Julien are called the saint-juliennois.
Since the First World War, the population of St-Julien increases regularly: 1 340 inhabitants in 1911, 2 053 in 1954.
This increase intensifies starting from the Années 1960 with the arrival of many new residents attracted by the economic dynamism of the area and the possibility of working in Suisse. Thus, of 3 210 inhabitants in 1962, St Julien passes to 6 347 in 1975, with 6 795 in 1982, 7 922 in 1990, 9 140 in 1999. The results of the census complementary carried out to the autumn 2002 give a population of 11 021 inhabitants. The population forecasts announce the continuation of this continuous rise.
Saint-Julien amalgamates with the commune of Thairy in 1965.
Several villages belong to this commune: Thairy, Crâche, Thérens, Norcier, Ternier, Lathoy.
History
Julien saint found remainders of the time of Burgondes. The history of Saint-Julien, who underwent during centuries the repercussions of the conflicts between Geneva and Savoy because of his geographical location, remains dominated by the signature, on July 21st 1603, of the Traité of Saint-Julien, peace treaty which put an end to the wars between Geneva and Savoy.In the current political situation Saint-Julien-in-Genevese is a commune sociologiquement on the right, whose Mayor, Jean-Michel Thénard, are however a man of the left.
