Geography
Saint Jean Kourtzerode locates at the end Is Lorraine plate. The site of the village is quasi-plan. This specificity was besides at the origin of the establishment of the airfield which devenut thereafter the " Phalsbourg Air Base" then the camp " Horie" current.
The altitude of the village exceeds the 300 meters.
History
The origin of the village goes back to the 14th century for the hamlet of Kourtzerode (which means “small careers”) and Holy Jean was built only at the beginning of the 18th century. The communal history was marked by the construction of an American military air base after the 2nd world war. Begun again by the French Army, the Camp Horie is occupied by the 1st Regiment of Combat helicopter and the 6th Regiment of Material.
