Saint-Hilarion (Yvelines)

Saint-Hilarion is a common department of the Yvelines, in the area Île-de-France, in France, located at 9 km to the west of Rambouillet.

This common was baptized “the Rocks” of 1793 to 1795.

Geography

Rural district, largely timbered, Saint-Hilarion are in edge of the main forest of Rambouillet and in limit of the department of Eure-et-Loir. It is bordering on Épernon, Droue-on-Drouette and Émancé in the south, of Gazeran in the east, Hermeray in north and Raizeux in the west.

The commune includes/understands several hamlets, of which the Narrow part and Saint-Anthony, spread out along the Guéville, small river, tributary of the Drouette, which takes its source in the park of the Château of Rambouillet.

History

  • Site inhabited as of the Neolithic .
  • pledged Seigniory in the county of Montfort to XIIIe century.
  • Village occupied by the Prussians in 1870.

Culture

  • Castle of Fosseuil: manor of the 17th century.
  • Castle of Neighbors: built in 1905 by Rene Sergeant for the count de Fels.
  • Saint-Hilarion Church: church of the 12th century.
  • Shelter decorated with engraving rupestral (parallel furrows, - 8000 years front J. - C.)

Economy

  • Agriculture: field crop (cereals, beets…).
