Saint-Herblain
Saint-Herblain ( “Sant-Ervlan” or Breton “Sant-Hermelen” in and “St Erbelaen” in Gallo) is a common French, located in the department of the Loire-Atlantique and the area Pays of the Loire.
Its inhabitants is called the Herblinois and Herblinoises .
History
The Paroisse of Saint-Herblain was founded at the 7th century by Saint Hermeland, monk of the abbey of Fontenelle (today Saint-Wandrille), with the call of the bishop of Nantes.

- the Canton of Saint-Herblain-Is is made of part of Saint-Herblain (24 603 inhabitants);
- the Canton of Saint-Herblain-West-Indre is made of part of Saint-Herblain and commune of Indre (22 766 inhabitants).
Development
It is a city under development. Counting only 18 760 Herblinois in 1968, it counts today more 45 000 inhabitants with a rate of population growth of 3% between 1990 and 1999, mainly with the development of the borough and the Preux district which extend. The commune receives more and more trade and shopping malls the such zone Atlantis .Atlantis is a retail park whose starting point was a shopping mall Leclerc which developed with now a gallery of 85 shops (of which the open store of pieces of furniture Ikea in 2002), a retail park apart from the gallery made up of more than 100 stores of which cinemas. Atlantis is the greatest retail park of the west of France, it inaugurated a new style of commercial arcade, a true center of life with fountains, large canopies which let enter the sun and of genuine trees. Saint-Herblain is a very dynamic city which inaugurated at the end of 2006 more big room of concert of the west of France: the the most innovative Zenith of France.

At present, after Nantes, Saint-Herblain is the most populated commune Urban community of Nantes Métropole.
